PRODUCE SHOW RESULTS 2021

Langford Produce Show Results

Our second Produce Show took place on Saturday 4th September 2021 as part of the Langford Village Day event.

The show was a great success with lots of participants exhibiting lots of entries.

The show was open to all and we had lots of fun planting, growing and making!

Saturday 4th September 2021

It starts with getting your entry form in just in time, balanced with ensuring your best produce is going to be ready! Then comes the careful military operation to get all your entries into the church, on the right table, with the right label looking their best without being distracted by the competition. Once all entries are in place, you can relax and move over to the village day activities and let the judges do their thing!

Its quite an undertaking to judge all the categories so the tasks were divided up. The church tables were overflowing with beautiful flowers; from the single roses and dahlias to the wonderful arrangements in unusual containers: old boots, a recycled Pringles tube and old plumbing parts to name a few. The amazing fruit and veg included the longest runner bean, heaviest apple topping 440grms and the bright yellow courgettes. Then it comes to the main event – the cake bake off! This year it was the lemon drizzle for the ladies and carrot cake for the men but the judges’ personal favourite of all the categories was the homemade alcoholic potions (of course!).

The Children’s section this year was very creative with decorated cupcakes, gingerbread men, poster & greeting card artwork and animals created out of recycled materials.

Our 2021 Show winners were:

The Langford Cup:Jennifer Skellington
Best in Show:Christine Apperley (single rose stem)
Champion Rosette Domestic section:Richard Kemp
Champion Rosette Vegetables section:  Michael Simpson
Champion Rosette Flower section:Jennifer Skellington
Champion Rosette Children’s section:Mason Harris

Thank you to all those who entered and made the day a great success. We look forward to your entries next year.

We must also thank our judges who had to have a lie down after all the cake tasting!

This show is organised by a committee of non-elected volunteers from various organisations. The Produce Show was part of the Langford Village Day held on field opposite St Matthew’s Church, Langford.
