Railway line bridge repair
If you regularly walk the railway line towards Alvescot you will have notice some yellow flags and dredging work at the bridge over Broadwell Brook. Just advance notice – this is preliminary work for some fairly major bridge repair work as the old railways bridge has collapsed. The plan is that work starts in the second week of May
It is being carried out by the legacy company that took on British Rail assets when lots of lines were closed in the Beeching cuts in 1963. Presumably the bridleway will be diverted, but not sure how yet
The yellow flags were part of an environmental survey – marking potential water vole holes. They have also had cameras there checking for otter activity
