These are the key summary findings from the Housing Needs Survey that was carried out in January.
The number of completed and returned surveys was well above the expectation of the PC and WODC and CFO (who carried out the survey). It’s great that the village engaged and responded to the level it did.
The final survey document runs to 23 pages of detailed charts and statistics – the key points are below.
The survey findings are now under consideration and will be an agenda item at the next PC Meeting (Thursday March 19th).
LANGFORD – FEBRUARY 2020 HOUSING NEEDS SURVEY REPORT
DISTRIBUTION AND KEY FINDINGS
In order to carry out the Housing Needs Survey, questionnaires and Freepost return envelopes were hand-delivered to parish dwellings in January 2020 by volunteers from Langford Parish Council.
CFO, liaising with the Parish Council and West Oxfordshire District Council, prepared the structure of the survey. CFO analysed the returned surveys and prepared this report. The survey does not claim to be representative of the entire population of the parish.
The survey responses were analysed in two parts. All respondents were asked to complete Part One of the questionnaire. Part 2 was for whole households (or individuals within a household) which need an affordable home and want to stay in Langford.
Key Findings Summary:
Surveys were hand-delivered to 154 households in the parish by Parish Council volunteers.
73 completed surveys were returned – a response rate of 47%.
170 ADDITIONAL surveys were distributed to parents at St Christopher’s Church of England Primary School, Langford, in order to reach a wider constituency of those who may have local connections to the parish. Therefore, some households which live in Langford would have received two copies of the survey: 1- via the parish distribution; and 2- via the primary school distribution. To avoid double-counting, only the village distribution figure has been used to calculate the 47% return percentage.
