· Talking Science
o We have two more Talking Science lectures scheduled – you can register here: https://talkingscience2019-20.eventbrite.co.uk. Talks coming up include “From citizen science to genetics” (Friday 15 May 18:00) and “Saving the Mary Rose Cannonballs” (Friday 12 June 18:00).

· Remote3 Coding Challenges
o Every Monday at 11:00 we’re going to be holding a short webinar and introducing a new computing challenge, linked to our sister site the Boulby Underground Laboratory as part of the Remote Robots project.
o Each week will include a short talk, an introduction to this week’s challenge, and will highlight some of the projects completed as part of the previous week’s challenge.
o The challenges will be aimed at students aged 10-14, and can all be completed with the free online Scratch programming language (https://scratch.mit.edu/).

· Online workshops for primary school children
o Apollo 11 Storytelling (ages 5-11), Tuesday 12 May 10:30: This storytelling virtual workshop celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The session will contain a story reading, time for questions and answers, and some suggestions for extra activities for children to do. This will last approximately 45 minutes.

o Cloud Catching (ages 7-11), Tuesday 19 May 10:30: This workshop provides an introduction to clouds, how clouds are formed and different cloud types. Children can learn about our scientists that study clouds, and have a go at making their own cloud picture using household objects. This will last approximately 30 minutes.

· Online tours and talks
o We are hoping to hold a series of virtual talks and tours about our experiments and facilities on site – including the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, Boulby Underground Laboratory, the Central Laser Facility and our Scientific Computing Department.
o Our first talk in this series will take place on Wednesday 6 May at 14:00, and will focus on the Central Laser Facility at RAL. You can register online here: https://talkingscience2019-20.eventbrite.co.uk. More tours and talks will become available shortly at the same address.

· Royal Observatory Edinburgh: Online talks
o Our sister lab, at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh, is running a series of weekly astronomy talks. The next talk, on Monday 4 May at 19:00, is entitled “Helping Scotland Launch to Space”
