It’s good a see a few encouraging signs at a national level, to give us hope that the first steps in modifying the lockdown are not too distant. That said it is clear that this is going to be a pretty long drawn out process, and people and businesses are still going to be affected for some time.
Rather than a gloomy virus picture i thought I’d put up something more cheerful with this update. Are others seeing more goldfinches but fewer bluetits this year?

The Pump has gone online, so for the time being we won’t delivering hard copies. You can see the May Pump (and indeed all the Pumps from the last few years) at https://www.parishpump.net/

West Oxfordshire has a coronavirus information page on its website – https://www.westoxon.gov.uk/coronavirus – there is stuff there about bins and rubbish collection for example
Playground and allotments
Just a reminder that the playground has to remain closed for the moment, but that the allotments are open (but users must please observe the standard social distancing guidelines please).
Village Events
Looking ahead there may be a few rays of sunshine for events in the autumn, though everything planned for the next couple of months can’t go ahead sadly.
Ride & Stride in September – looks as if this will probably go ahead (and we should all be so fit from all the walking and cycling people seem to be doing!)
Village Day and Produce Show on September 5 – we still need to wait a bit before deciding on this because as things stand it is difficult to do the planning and organisational work
Langford Charity
In these unusual circumstances it’s the right time to keep reminding people of the existence and purposes of our small Langford Charity. The trustees are able to consider offering financial support where the individual applicant or family can show hardship in relation to one or more of the needs outlined below:
- Medical conditions
- Special educational needs
- Training opportunities to gain employment
- Situations where financial support would alleviate significant hardship
