Open Gardens 2024
Here we look back at the Open Gardens in 2024
2024 REPORT
Sunday 9th June 2024
2024 was another successful event and the weather stayed kind to us.
Over 400 visitors came to explore the 24 open gardens with refreshments at the two venues across the village.
Pember House made a least 240 cups of tea and the Village Hall served another 170 cups of tea and served 170 slices of cake. An amazing effort!
The Plant Stall and Raffle were both very successful offering lots of plants and an interesting range of prizes. The 1st prize was a meal with wine at The Bell.
A great village effort with the total raised on the day of £5,941. All money raised is donated to the National Garden scheme and St Mathews Church.
Thank you to all who opened their garden and all the volunteers who made tea, parked cars, sold plants and raffle tickets.
The visitors were full of high praise with lots reporting to be coming back for the next open garden event.
“Oh my! We went today and have to say, it is the best open gardens we have ever been to and we must’ve been to dozens and dozens over the years.
It took us 4 hours to get round them all but we did stop for coffee and cake (whilst being serenaded by a live violinist) and also had a pint at the pub, near the end of our fabulous experience.
Every garden was unique and totally beautiful. The Roses, Peonies and Foxgloves were incredible. All the owners were welcoming and informative and we had a terrific day with our Border Collie in tow. Without question, this was the best £16 we have ever spent.
Please pass on our sincerest gratitude to the organisers and of course, the owners of all the amazing gardens we saw today. See you next time? Oh most definitely.”
