As we did for VE Day we are holding a short gathering at the War Memorial at 11.00am on Saturday August 15 as part of the national remembrance for the 75th anniversary of VJ Day. Do please join us if you can.
While for most people in Britain in 1945 the end of the war in Europe, VE Day in May, was moment they remember, for others the war was not yet over as there was still fighting in the Pacific and Far East. So for those serving in the Far East, or with loved ones out there, the real end of the was not until VJ Day – August 15, when Japan finally surrendered.
