Langford Produce Show Results
Our first Produce Show took place on Saturday 7th September 2019 as part of the Langford Village Day event.
The show was a great success with over 60 participants exhibiting 201 entries.
The show was open to all and we had lots of fun planting, growing and making!

Wow! What a fantastic turn-out we had at the Langford Produce Show.
The morning started with a flurry of activity; people turned up with their cake tins, boxes of prize vegetables, artwork, stunning floral displays, fruit and jars of secret recipe jams & curds. With one eye on the competition it was important to ensure your entry looked spectacular but also had the right labelling!
A week ago, we only had a few entries – what a difference seven days can make! We ended up with over 60 exhibitors; 35 vegetable entries, 70 floral, 58 domestic and 38 in the children’s category. A brilliant overall total of 201 entries that filled the church and gave everyone a real competition to win. Section rosettes were presented to Jo Edwards for the Domestic classes, Ginny Bushell for the Vegetable category, Emma Somerfield and Trudie Macdonald were joint winners of the Fruit & Flowers and a rather chuffed Daisy Catchpole took the Children’s section title helped by her fantastic penguin leaf picture; a future star for the next Langford Arts Festival? Other overall high scorers included Mike Simpson and Jen Genge. A special mention goes to Elaine Taylor who set out her early single ambition to take the coveted title of winning the women-only Victoria sponge class. She did not disappoint and, with her first ever show entry, beat the other 11 entries to win.
The Best in Show prize was awarded to Emma Somerfield’s display of 3 dahlias which resulted in her overall score matching Ginny Bushell. After much discussion the judges awarded the Show Trophy and prosecco to Emma based on the high standard of all her entries.
The show was part of the Langford Village Day which was a great success. Everyone agreed the show has sparked their imagination and determination to enter more next year!
A huge thank you to our judges David Harding, Head Gardener for the Williamstrip Estate, Rebecca Harding with an experience hospitality career and Ginny Bushell, Langford Arts Festival Director. Rebecca had the toughest job of tasting all the lovely cakes.
The last note goes to thank all the participants and visitors; the show is only possible with people getting involved.
This show is organised by a committee of non-elected volunteers from various organisations. The Produce Show was part of the Langford Village Day held on field opposite St Matthew’s Church, Langford.
