The School

St Christopher’s Church of England Primary School is a vital part of village life in Langford. Numbers on roll have increased consistently resulting in an extension that was added in 1997. The school now houses 5 classes of children aged 4-11.

The enthusiastic and dedicated staff team is led by Head Teacher Mr Goodwin. They are committed to providing the very best education for each individual and welcome the involvement of the whole community.

The school has close links with St Matthew’s Church and Reverend David Spence leads various services throughout the year such as the Harvest Festival and Christingle. These are well attended by pupils, parents and villagers alike.

In 2008 the School Council was established. This consists of representatives from each class who are actively involved in the running of the school and brainstorming new initiatives.

Extensive school grounds are a real asset to St Christopher’s and are constantly used to enhance lessons and for extra curricular activities. The addition of fantastic play equipment makes for brilliant break times and pupils can often be found creating ‘musical masterpieces’ in the Sound Garden. The far-reaching field provides the perfect setting for an all day Sports Day and numerous clubs such as football, hockey and rounders are carried out there on a weekly basis.

The children are now the proud owners of several chickens and a cockerel. They are actively involved in their upkeep and have revelled in their role as carers of the baby chicks. Each class is responsible for a raised bed and a weekly gardening club has used them to provide fresh fruit and vegetables.

The St Christopher’s Parents Association (SCPA) is always looking for fun and imaginative ways in order to raise funds for the school. It consists of an extremely active and welcoming group of parents who meet regularly to ensure that events are well planned and well attended by the community and surrounding area.

St Christopher’s has a committed governing body which is chaired by Catherine Jones. Many governors are regular volunteers in classes and all enjoy visiting to take part in various activities or to attend assemblies and performances.

Should you wish to know more about the school please don’t hesitate to contact the Head Teacher directly or take a look at the website.
